Buck Martin

City of San Marcos

Buck is the Director of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department.  Prior to coming to San Marcos, he was the Director of Recreation for the City of Chula Vista for 11 years.  In this position, Buck oversaw the Discovery Nature Center, ten recreation complexes, two aquatic facilities as well as recreation programming for over 585 acres of parkland.  He managed more that 30 full time and 350 part time staff with a budget of nearly $6 million dollars.

 

Buck was the former General Manager for the 20,000 seat Sleep Train Amphitheater in Chula vista.  He also held a number of positions at the Great Western Forum in Los Angeles including Vice President of Booking and Event Services.  His venue management included community relations, budgeting, marketing, event operations, booking and negotiating contracts.

 

Buck has a BA in Public Administration from San Diego State University.  He is a graduate of Leadership North County and a member of the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos.  He is coaches the men and women’s rugby teams at Coronado High School and also the OMBAC Wallabies Youth Rugby Program.  He and his wife Wendy have a daughter and son and they reside in Coronado.  In his spare time, Buck enjoys rugby, golf, running, fishing and hiking.
