Holly Malan

City of San Marcos

Holly is currently a Manager in Parks & Recreation for the City of San Marcos.  She was hired in 2006 as Recreation Superintendent.  Her areas of responsibility include oversight of the Athletics, Community Center and Youth Program areas.  She also manages the Community Garden projects, the Rotating Art Gallery and the Juried Art Show at the Community Center. Holly works closely with the Youth Ambassadors, the Parks & Recreation Commission and other city departments to accomplish a variety of special projects such as fundraising for the annual fireworks show and park development.


She spent over 20 years in administrative positions with the Boys & Girls Club of Escondido, which after a few mergers became the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego.  Holly was an Area Director responsible for oversight of clubhouses in Borrego Springs, Escondido, Ramona and Valley Center.  Throughout her time with the Clubs, she hired, trained and supervised staff, managed the club’s fundraising events, worked on special projects, public relations and marketing as well as volunteer management. 


Ms. Malan has a BA in Recreation Administration from San Diego State University and a Certificate in Contemporary Marketing from UC San Diego Extension. She is a member of California Parks & Recreation Society (CPRS), National Recreation & Parks Association (NRPA), Women in Leisure Service (WILS) and the Rotary Club of San Marcos, where she is immediate past president.  Holly and her husband Randy live in San Marcos.  She likes the outdoors and is an avid golfer, enjoys camping and spending time with family and friends.
